The Curious Incident

When you start reading this book you immediately feel that The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is different from other books.

This is a very clever book about a very clever boy. His name is Christopher. The story is narrated from his perspective.

Christopher is 15 years old and lives with his dad in a small town between London and Bristol. He observes everything differently in life, more literally in a certain way. Christopher has the ability to process numbers and information within split seconds. He never talks to strangers, he likes murder mystery novels and Christopher does not understand jokes. He follows his own set of rules to survive in a world he does not seem to understand. It is revealing that the book does make you realise Christopher’s way of thinking is actually very pragmatic. It makes common sense in most cases, while people treat him as a child with special needs.

When Christopher finds the dog of his neighbour dead in the garden, brutally killed by a hayfork, Christopher decides to become his own Sherlock Holmes. For the investigation into the death of the dog Christopher must leave his own rules. This results in a very funny and exciting journey to the truth.
