One Hundred Years of Solitude

Well ladies and gentlemen, I believe this is the book of books. One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez.

And I promised myself something. Soon, I am going to read this book again. Completely against my principles. I must have read One Hundred Years of Solitude about 20 years ago. A book that’s on my bookshelf and still stands out to this day.

Why haven’t I written a blog about it before? Well, because it is still difficult to put a feeling into words. The moment you cannot find the right words, you are afraid that you won’t do any justice to the book itself. However, Mr Márquez has received the Nobel Prize for Literature for a reason, I suppose. Fortunately, I am not the only person in the world who was blown away by the beauty of a book.

So, why am I writing a blog about One Hundred Years of Solitude? Because, I want to encourage those few souls around the world who haven’t yet read this book to do so as quickly as possible. No more waiting and don’t hesitate. Run to your library, borrow it from a friend or buy your own brand new version!

Do I have to say anything about the book itself? Hell yes! This writer knows like no other how to write a fascinating story. A story that is told with the most wonderful sentences. Sentences that you yourself could never have imagined. Imagine a family chronicle, full of memorable and imaginative characters. Characters full of courage, pride, determination, tragedy, mystery and love.

So, I almost know for sure, after reading One Hundred Years of Solitude, you as well will fall in love with this book.
