In Lucia’s Eyes

In Lucia’s Eyes by Arthur Japin is a beautiful love story! After all, it is about Casanova, yes the well-known womanizer.

If you are looking for a romantic novel full of sun-tanned casanova’s, then this is not the right book for you. In case you are ready to read an extraordinary book, then In Lucia’s Eyes is an absolute must read.

In this historical novel the story isn’t told from Casanova’s perspective, but that of Lucia. She is the girl that Casanova falls in love with as a 17-year-old boy. Just before they will get married, Lucia disappears. But why? It breaks Casanova’s heart. Would he therefore have become the world’s best-known lover?

Two story lines alternate cleverly, about young Lucia and Lucia as a grown woman. In the beginning it’s a little puzzling. Both main characters have adopted different names later in life. Casanova and Lucia will meet again. In Amsterdam. Lucia plays a daring game. The truth about Lucia’s disappearance will be unraveled in a heartbreaking way.

Arthur Japin describes Venice and Amsterdam as if you are walking around in the 18th century. The writer combines fiction with historical facts in rich and compelling sentences. Love, betrayal, sacrifice, seduction, reason and following your heart. The right ingredients for an exceptionally moving story.
