Olivia Joules

If my previous book blog about What Is the What sounded a bit too heavy, then Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination might be a better choice for a sunny afternoon.

It is a spy novel written by Helen Fielding, the author of the Bridget Jones books.

You must have lived under a rock if you do not know who Bridget Jones is. You should have seen at least one of the movies. The first one is obviously still the best with a hilarious Renée Zellweger as Bridget, and oh my god, is that Mr Darcy? Is that my Mr Darcy from the BBC series Pride & Prejudice aka Colin Firth?? Yep it is….sigh! Ok, I am getting a little carried away here, where was I. Oh yes, Olivia not Bridget.

Olivia Jules is a journalist who writes for an English newspaper and a magazine. During the launch of a beauty product in Miami she meets the rich and handsome owner of the brand. Although she feels attracted to him, Olivia does not trust the guy. Her overactive imagination runs wild and she even thinks he might be a terrorist. Olivia decides to start an investigation on her own.

Helen Fielding managed to create a female James Bond with a funny twist. Think…..smart and feisty lady in combination with beautiful locations, extravagant houses, posh cars and speedboats. The book is easy to read and quite exciting too. Is it indeed Olivia’s overactive imagination that leads her into risky situations or is she on to something and could she prevent a terrorist attack?

Curious? And would you like to read an uncomplicated exciting story?
